Audi SQ5 0-60 times

Out of all performance specs, nothing but Audi SQ5 0-60 times can better speak about the vehicle's temper. While horsepower and torque blow smoke in the eyes, SQ5 zero to sixty specs and average time to run a quarter mile are pretty straightforward metrics allowing to compare against its competitors.

Very often there is no chance of doing SQ5 0-to-60 test personally and making conclusions from the experience of the other drivers is the last thing you want.

Conducting a trustworthy test drive requires following a strict methodology that is intended to eliminate the inconsistent circumstances like weather, tires, surface, engine temperature. It is always better to leave it for professionals.

In the search for more practicality and capability, people today buy crossovers in ever increasing numbers, while sales of other types of vehicles are slowing down. What those buyers lose in the process is performance and driver’s involvement – SUVs tend to be slower and less fun to drive.

Fortunately, there are cars like the Audi SQ5, which combines the practicality and capability of an AWD crossover SUV and the performance of a sports car. Audi’s sporty crossover is an answer to the prayers of the public for more performance oriented SUV, and it delivers on almost all fronts. It has a powerful turbocharged V6 engine, Quattro all-wheel-drive, nicely appointed cabin and a lot of space inside.

Audi SQ5 Performance

If the idea of an SUV sounds boring to you, wait until you hear about the performance of the Audi SQ5. The German crossover is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine with 354 horsepower and more importantly, monstrous 369 pound-feet of torque, channeled through an eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels.

The result is pretty amazing for an SUV – 0-60 sprint takes only 5.1 seconds, which is almost sports car territory, but still not the best result in the class – the Mercedes-Benz GLC43 takes astonishingly quick 4.3 seconds to reach 60 mph. The gearbox is a nice companion to the engine – it shifts smoothly and almost imperceptibly, but in an aggressive-driving scenario it can sometimes be imprecise. That said, it’s pretty hard to throw it out of balance on public roads.

The SQ5 is very good when things become twisty. It’s equipped with a new air suspension that keeps the car nice and flat through the bends, while also delivering supremely plush ride quality. The best of both worlds? We would say that it’s close.

Exterior & Interior

Audi is best known for its interiors, and the SQ5 shows why is that the case. The materials are top-notch and the fit and finish are very precise, while the design somehow shows the German way of thinking and engineering – everything looks to be right where it’s supposed to be. Except for the screen (7-inch standard, 8.3-inch optional) – we wish it was retractable like in other Audi models.

The infotainment system is very easy to use, on the other hand, thanks to the MMI interface with a rotary controller and touchpad. The interior is equipped with a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio in higher-end trims, which sounds great, and we also like the Audi Virtual Cockpit in the Prestige trims, that brings all the information from the infotainment in front of the driver. The sport seats are another high point for the Audi.

On the outside, the SQ5 brings the familiar Audi look. Some may like this approach, but others may not. In this sporty guise, we think that the German crossover catches the eye, but we’ll leave the final judgment to you, as looks are subjective.

Conclusion

The Audi SQ5 combines performance, style, practicality, and luxury in a crossover package. We think that you should definitely consider it if you’re into a high-performance SUV, as it has almost no real drawbacks, safe for the price perhaps.
