Subaru WRX 0-60 times

Out of all performance specs, nothing but Subaru WRX 0-60 times can better speak about the vehicle's temper. While horsepower and torque blow smoke in the eyes, WRX zero to sixty specs and average time to run a quarter mile are pretty straightforward metrics allowing to compare against its competitors.

Very often there is no chance of doing WRX 0-to-60 test personally and making conclusions from the experience of the other drivers is the last thing you want.

Conducting a trustworthy test drive requires following a strict methodology that is intended to eliminate the inconsistent circumstances like weather, tires, surface, engine temperature. It is always better to leave it for professionals.

We are here to help if you need to know what is the exact 0-60 mph for WRX and all trims year by year. The official technical documentation is used as our primary source for Subaru WRX zero to 60 performance data which is also manually verified by editors.

With its 268 horsepower four-cylinder turbo, the Subaru WRX delivers some very interesting performances. A manual gearbox is standard and it is possible to opt for a CVT automatic transmission. On the other hand, the 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder WRX STI delivers 305 horsepower, and only one manual gearbox can handle that power on all four wheels. Both sedans are entitled to aesthetic retouching, and the WRX STI Type RA is added to the range.

The WRX STI adopts a style undoubtedly renewed commanded by the new optics with LED technology for both road lights and position, or the new hexagonal grille that give it a more modern look. However, from the first moment the features of their ancestors are recognized : the air intake on the bonnet (now it is wider and lower), the oversized fins, and the large rear spoiler. This one has been placed in a position 8 mm. higher in the face to improve rear visibility (a point in its favor, since before limited the view by the central mirror), and is 0.3 kilos lighter. The version without the characteristic spoiler that will be in other countries will not arrive to the Spanish market. During the presentation of the model we could observe and drive, and the mere fact of not carrying a spoiler gave it a very different aspect: more discreet that yes, but less STI.

Curiously, the new generation has maintained the base of the previous model without significant changes: its integral traction with central differential lock and the boxer engine. In fact, its turbocharged four-cylinder and 2.5-liter engine has not even increased the power giving good its 300 hp at 6,000 laps . Neither do we believe that he needs more horses, because the ones that run are like a rally car. Especially in short gears, and under the tutelage of a six-speed change very racing, the STI is very fast. In addition, the new electronic management has made the response to the accelerator more immediate (configurable in three levels), and in just 5.2 seconds it is capable of reaching 100 km / h from a stop.

From inside, you can see that Subaru has tried to print a more modern look to the austere interior of the WRX STI . At the same time that a more current design is reflected in the predominant details in red, black, carbon and metal, plastic softer and more pleasant touch have been incorporated in the dashboard. As it could not be otherwise, the seats are sporty and are upholstered in alcantara and leather. We were surprised for your comfort, considering the sporty car we are talking about.

As for equipment, the new creature of Subaru shows a more serious endowment and has current elements such as access and start without key, knee airbag, or heated seats. In the multimedia section highlights the powerful navigation and audio system of the prestigious firm Harman Kardon .

The suspensions have hardened slightly and the steering, still of hydraulic assistance instead of the electric one that more and more is being imposed, is faster when needing only 2.5 turns between stops in place of the 2,8 of before. All this gives the WRX STI a very genuine character, a little rough, quite noisy rolling (the sound of the boxer often goes unnoticed), but very exciting to drive. With it, the fast curve passage is sublime. In a slow curve it suffers a little if you try to round the line, because it barely allows a sliding of the rear axle. However, you can play with the DCCD system to modify the distribution settings of the central differential, although the possibilities are so many (six manual and three automatic modes) that I have not been able to discern the real differences between them.
